We’re Doing It! Announcing Our First Ever 40-Day Program!

We are thrilled to announce that on July 1st, 2024, we will be launching the first-ever 40-day program at Seeds! This program is designed to catalyze meaningful transformation in the lives of adolescents.

Can Transformation Really Happen in 40 Days?

Absolutely! But let’s break it down a bit more: it’s actually 40 days plus 3 years. We believe that real transformation takes time. While there may be pivotal moments that spark change (think of Paul on the Damascus Road), the true transformation happens as we walk out that change over a longer period.

A Biblical Model of Transformation

Consider the example of Paul. After his dramatic encounter on the Damascus Road, he spent three years in the wilderness of Arabia, praying and seeking the Lord’s transformation (see Galatians 1:16-18). This underscores our belief that while the backcountry healing experience can serve as a powerful catalyst, sustained transformation requires ongoing support and discipleship.

Our New Model: 40 Days + 3 Years

In line with our belief that lasting transformation requires time and continued support, we’ve developed a new model that balances an intensive backcountry experience with long-term therapeutic engagement. This approach not only makes the program more affordable but also ensures sustained growth and change. Here’s how it works:

  1. Three Months of Coaching: After the initial 40-days, students will receive three months of personalized coaching. This coaching is conducted remotely, allowing students to integrate their new skills and insights into their daily lives while still having access to guidance and support. This period helps bridge the gap between the intensive outdoor experience and their return to everyday environments, ensuring they continue to build on the progress they’ve made.
  2. Home Visit: To further solidify the changes and provide a support network at home, one of our experienced field instructors and a pastor or counselor will visit the student’s home. During this visit, they will work with the family to establish a care community that supports the student’s ongoing transformation. This includes setting up routines, identifying local resources, and ensuring that the student has a strong support system to rely on. This visit is crucial in helping the family understand the journey their child has been on and how they can best support them moving forward.
  3. Mentorship Invitation: A key component of our long-term approach is giving students the opportunity to return as mentors. After completing their initial program, students can come back to Seeds to help guide new participants. This not only reinforces their own growth and development but also empowers them by giving them a sense of purpose and responsibility. Serving as a mentor allows former students to share their experiences and insights, providing valuable support to others while continuing to learn and grow themselves.
  4. International Family Mission Trip: As part of our comprehensive aftercare plan, we offer an invitation to join us on an international family mission trip. This trip is designed to foster deeper family connections and provide a shared experience that strengthens bonds. Working together in a mission setting allows families to witness firsthand the changes in their child, while also contributing to meaningful service projects. These trips are powerful opportunities for personal and spiritual growth, reinforcing the values and skills learned during the program.

By combining an intensive backcountry experience with these extended support mechanisms, we ensure that the transformation our students begin in nature continues long after they return home. This holistic approach addresses not only their immediate therapeutic needs but also their long-term personal and spiritual development.

We believe that with these ongoing touchpoints, students are better equipped to navigate the challenges they may face in the future, armed with the tools and support they need to thrive. This new model reflects our commitment to providing comprehensive, Christ-centered care that truly transforms lives.

Excited to Bring This Vision to Life!

Our team is currently in training in Colorado, gearing up for our first group of students.

We are excited about all that God has in store and look forward to walking this path of transformation with our students!
